Soaking In The Last Few Days in Cali
We had seven great years in California and topped it off with our last memories in Mammoth, CA. Staying at an RV campground pretty close to downtown we hiked, biked and tasted beers! Our first afternoon was spent biking up the Mammoth Lakes Basin Path Loop which climbs about 1,000 feet (we barely survived and we biked SF hills for the last four plus years). The path winds in and out of beautiful aspen trees, past several lakes and offers beautiful views throughout.
We spent our evening walking around Convict Lake (and occasionally skipping rocks). The trailhead is only about a 10 min drive from downtown and very easy to access. The lake is surrounded by Sierra's Mount Morrison (12,241'). Convict Lake is one of the deepest lakes in the region (140'+ deep) and was originally carved out by glaciers. Purtyyyyy....
Next day we hiked the 10 ish mile trail to Duck Lake which offers several other lake views along the way - highly recommended!
After a ten miler there were only two things we could think of: food and tasty local beer. Check out Black Doubt Brewing Company and grab a bite from Food Cache right next door (you can bring your food into the brewery) which has delicious fresh and organic bites!
And for our late night (yes it is 7pm) last Cali supper... Dylan's homemade quesadillas, yummm! (Oh and a nice glass of Cali Cab).
