We Won the Wave Lotto!
Kanab, UT "Little Hollywood" as our homebase... we got super lucky and won the Wave lotto which was about a 1 out of 15 chance (Asa... can you check our math!?). We stayed at Crazy Horse RV Park which was walking distance from the Wave lotto BLM office (full info here). We won the first day (eg: you enter on a Thursday and if you win, you hike Friday). Some folks enter the walk up lotto EVERY day (which doesn't actually up your chances) and never win... thank you Connelly karma!

The second wave...
We stayed in Kanab for four days total. Other things to do in the area include: unknown caves, visit Coral Pink Sand Dunes SP, the Kanab Animal Sanctuary and the (FREE) Little Hollywood Museum.
Food outings = vegan pizza yumminess at Peekaboo Canyon Wood Fire Pizza or BBQ (and live music!) at Denny's Wigwam.
We also took a day trip to the Grand Canyon! You can reach the North Rim in a little over an hour. We checked out the lodge (superrr crowded) and then made our way to a longer hike into the canyon on North Kiabab Trail which some take all the way down into the canyon. The trip down into the canyon is worth it, just wish we had more time!
